Special Education Teacher: ACHIEVE Program for 18-22 Year Old Students

Start Date: Negotiable
Salary/Benefits: Per collective bargaining agreement (180-day contract)
Type of Employment: Full-time Permanent
Job Qualifications: Illinois PEL with LBS 1 with Vocational Education Experience preferred
Duties: Help us build our new program from the ground up! BHASED is starting a new classroom designed for students who are between the ages of 18 and 22 years, who have met their graduation requirements, and who would benefit from additional vocational, life skill, and independence training. The successful teaching candidate will have a passion and vision for helping students with disabilities discover and realize more independence as they transition into adulthood.

Occupational Therapist

Start Date: Immediate
Salary/Benefits: Per collective bargaining agreement (180-day contract)
Type of Employment: Full-time Permanent
Job Qualifications: A valid Illinois license to practice Occupational Therapy (IDPFR)
Duties: The Occupational Therapist will work directly with students in the school setting and provide consultative services. They will be part of a multi-disciplinary team including PTs, teachers, administrators, social workers, SLPs, psychologists, and paraprofessionals. They will identify and evaluate students needing school-based occupational therapy services. The OT will implement student interventions and obtain data related to interventions provided. They may also be involved with maintaining/monitoring adaptive and assistive equipment, conducting student observations, implementing MTSS interventions, and assisting with staff training.

Speech Pathologist – Maternity Leave Coverage

Start Date: ~February 27 through May 27, 2022

Job Qualifications: Illinois Speech Pathologist License

School Social Worker

Job Qualifications: Illinois Professional Educator License in School Social Work
Duties: Consultation, intervention planning, and implementation, evaluation, and supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally. Individual and small group counseling and social skills instruction; leadership in the implementation of a tiered system of SEL supports; participation on the building Problem Solving Teams.

School Psychologist/School Psychologist Interns

Start Date: August 2022

Job Qualifications: A valid Illinois PEL endorsed in School Psychology (interns considered)
Duties: The Psychologist will work with building-based teams including principals, teachers, a coordinator, and a social worker. Must have knowledge of RTI/MTSS model using a team approach.

Job Qualifications: Must have (or be eligible for) a Paraprofessional license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. Must be at least 19 years of age
Duties: Assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, help special needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships.

Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired

Start Date: August 2022

Job Qualifications: Illinois Professional Educator License with Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired endorsement
Duties: Provide direct services to students with visual impairments, writing IEPs, and providing consultation services to school staff. Develop an individual diagnostic profile and write an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each child receiving itinerant services; Provide academic tutoring in the subject matter areas that require supportive assistance; Provide professional services to classroom teachers to help them in their relationship with the visually impaired; Participate in an annual review of the child’s progress and rewrite the IEP; Serve as a resource regarding materials and equipment available for the education of the visually impaired.
