Speech-Language Pathologist (maternity leave coverage)

Dates: Approximately January 15 through April 17, 2023
Salary: Per collective bargaining agreement
Type of Employment: 3-5 days/week
Job Qualifications: A valid Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist license
Duties: The Speech Language Pathologist will work directly with students in the school setting at the Black Hawk Area Education Center. They will be part of a multi-disciplinary team including OTs, PTs, teachers, administrators, social workers, SLPs, psychologists, and paraprofessionals. The SLP will implement student interventions and obtain data related to the interventions provided.

School Social Worker

Start Date: ASAP

Type of Employment: Full-time permanent. 180-day contract.
Job Qualifications: Illinois Professional Educator School Social Work License
Duties: Provide individual and small group counseling and social skills instruction; leadership in the implementation of a tiered system of SEL supports; participation in the building level problem-solving teams.

Sign Language Interpreters

Start Date: ASAP
Salary/Benefits: Per collective bargaining agreement. Partial Board paid Health Insurance, paid sick and personal leave.
Type of Employment: Full-time permanent. (5 days/week ~30 hrs/week)
Job Qualifications: Illinois sign-language interpreter credentials for children.
Duties: Provide ASL Interpreting services for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, in a school environment.

Paraprofessional – Deaf/Hard of Hearing Classroom

Start Date: ASAP
Salary/Benefits: Hourly. Eligible for health insurance. Paid holidays, sick, and personal leave. (180-day contract)
Type of Employment: Full-time Permanent
Job Qualifications: Must have (or be eligible for) a Paraprofessional license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Duties: Assists with classroom duties under the supervision of the Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, communicates effectively with students in the students’ preferred mode of communication as established by the program.

Paraprofessionals

Job Qualifications: Must have (or be eligible for) a Paraprofessional license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. Must be at least 18 years of age
Duties: Assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, help special needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships.

School Psychologist

Job Qualifications: A valid Illinois PEL endorsed in School Psychology (interns considered)
Duties: The Psychologist will work with building-based teams including principals, teachers, a coordinator, and a social worker. Must have knowledge of RTI/MTSS model using a team approach.

Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired

Start Date: August 2023

Type of Employment: Full-time permanent. 180-day contract.
Job Qualifications: Illinois Professional Educator License with Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired endorsement
Duties: Provide direct services to students with visual impairments, writing IEPs, and providing consultation services to school staff. Develop an individual diagnostic profile and write an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each child receiving itinerant services; Provide academic tutoring in the subject matter areas that require supportive assistance; Provide professional services to classroom teachers to help them in their relationship with the visually impaired; Participate in an annual review of the child’s progress and rewrite the IEP; Serve as a resource regarding materials and equipment available for the education of the visually impaired.
