Start Date: August 2025 (1 week before school begins and 1 week after school ends)

Type of Employment: Full-Time – 190 day contract
Job Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of teaching or related service experience, strongly preferred to be in special education. Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) and Illinois General Administrative or Principal endorsement required.

Instructional Coach

Overview:
The Black Hawk Area Special Education District is seeking a passionate and experienced Instructional Coach to support students and staff across the district. The role of the Instructional Coach is to build teacher capacity and their understanding of instructional practices as related to Illinois Learning Standards and Data Driven Instruction. He/she ensures that district adopted curriculum materials are being implemented with fidelity and that staff and students are receiving instruction based on best practices in assessment, instruction, and classroom management. He/she works with the BHASED administration (Director, Principals, Assistant Principals, and SPED Coordinators) to ensure that data-driven instruction is being practiced, while promoting reflection, guidance, and structure where needed; and focusing on strengths, collaboration, and common issues of concern. The Instructional Coach is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and providing feedback to teachers. Overview:
Provides school-based therapy that is integrated into the school’s educational program as a means to enhance functioning and attain educational objectives; provides support to the total educational system; assists with problem-solving to eliminate barriers that hinder access to educational environments and provides modifications and accommodations to support students in their education program. Designs, develops, and coordinates, in conjunction with other team members, the therapy objectives within the educational program for individual students under the therapist’s direction. Implements professional practices and standards associated with the discipline (e.g. IDFPR, ISBE). Utilizes prevention, promotion, and intervention strategies to support academic achievement and social participation in the educational environment. Contributes to the professional community.
