Physical Therapist

Start Date: Immediate
Salary/Benefits: Per collective bargaining agreement. IMRF, paid sick and personal leave, professional development funds available.
Type of Employment: Part-time permanent. (4 days/week)
Job Qualifications: Illinois Physical Therapist License (IDPFR)
Duties: Provides school-based therapy that is integrated into the school’s educational program as a means to enhance functioning and attain educational objectives; provides support to the total educational system; assists with problem solving to eliminate barriers that hinder access to educational environments and provides modifications and accommodations to support students in their education program. Designs, develops, and coordinates, in conjunction with other team members, the therapy objectives within the educational program for individual students under the therapist’s direction. Implements professional practices and standards associated with discipline (e.g. IDFPR, ISBE). Utilizes prevention, promotion, and intervention strategies to support academic achievement and social participation in the educational environment. Contributes to the professional community.

Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired

Start Date: Immediate
Salary/Benefits: Per collective bargaining agreement. IMRF, Partial Board paid Health Insurance, paid sick and personal leave.
Type of Employment: Full-time permanent. 180 day contract (pro-rated depending upon actual start date).
Job Qualifications: Illinois Professional Educator License with Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired endorsement
Duties: Provide direct services to students with visual impairments, writing IEPs, and providing consultation services to school staff. Develop an individual diagnostic profile and write an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each child receiving itinerant services; Provide academic tutoring in the subject matter areas that require supportive assistance; Provide professional services to classroom teachers to help them in their relationship with visually impaired; Participate in an annual review of the child’s progress and rewrite the IEP; Serve as resource regarding materials and equipment available for the education of the visually impaired.

Special Education Teacher:  18-22 Transitions Classroom

Start Date: August, 2020
Salary/Benefits: Per collective bargaining agreement (180-day contract)

Job Qualifications: LBS 1 with Vocational Education Experience preferred
Duties: Help us build our new program from the ground up! BHASED is starting a new classroom designed for students who are between the ages of 18 and 22 years, who have met their graduation requirements, and who would benefit from additional vocational, life skill, and independence training. The successful teaching candidate will have a passion and vision for helping students with disabilities discover and realize more independence as they transition into adulthood.

School Psychologist (2 Openings)

Start Date: January, 2020

Job Qualifications: A valid Illinois PEL endorsed in School Psychology (interns considered)
Duties: The Psychologist will work with building based teams including principals, teachers, a coordinator, and a social worker. Must have knowledge of RTI/MTSS model using a team approach.

Substitute Nurse

In order to ensure the best care for our students, we are looking to expand our pool of substitute nurses. If you are interested in serving as an on-call/substitute nurse for BHASED, please complete and submit an online application.
Responsibilities Include: *Dispense medication and log dosages. *G-Tube feedings. *Assess students that are sent to the nurse’s office for injury or illness and log the purpose of visit and treatment required. *Call parents to notify them of injury or illness. *Diabetic monitoring and care.
