Duties: A member of a building based team to evaluate and treat students with speech and language deficits.

School Social Worker

Job Qualifications: A valid Illinois PEL endorsed in School Social Work

Deaf/Hard of Hearing Program Educational Interpreter

Start Date: August 13, 2018
Salary/Benefits: 180-day contract. Minimum of 30 hours per week. (Additional hours may be required depending upon the school assigned to or working at.) Eligible for health insurance. Paid holidays, sick, and personal leave. Professional development funds available.
Type of Employment: Full-time Permanent
Job Qualifications: 

  • Must have passed the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) test in Illinois to be an approved Educational Interpreter in Illinois.
  • Experience with children preferred.
  • This person shall have personal characteristics and abilities to work closely and cooperatively with district staff.

Duties: To interpret for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students in the general education setting and to assist the D/HH teacher in meeting the IEP objectives indicated for each student.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have (or be eligible for) Paraprofessional license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education
  • Holds a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (GED)
  • Is at least 19 years of age

Duties: Assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, help special needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships.

Certified School Nurse at BHAEC 

Start Date: August 13, 2018

Job Qualifications:

  • RN who holds ISBE PEL endorsed as a school nurse
  • Registered Nurse (RN) who hold at least a bachelor’s degree in nursing, education, or a related field may be considered.

Duties: Assist with the nursing/medical needs of Kg. thru 21 students with significant disabilities being served in a separate day treatment Cooperative level program. This could include monitoring/administration of medications, supervising the para that is dedicated to nursing support, training and supervising feedings, communication with parents and outside providers plus completion of medical reviews for reevaluations of special education need and consultation with other team members about the implications of that review.
